Blogging

This has been a very unique experience, blogging that is I have had a couple of issues throughout this process like getting started and actually writing my “blogs”. But never the less I feel as if through this process I have nether improved or learned any writing skills, and am still clueless of what this was all for. I have had a lack of comments, not made to my blog posts, it was expected considering my blogs where pretty boring. But Im not upset because I myself did not leave many comments. As for continuing on with my blog even after this course…….. Definitely not, I personally think it is a waste of time. I mean who do we think we are? Really, why would we think that anyone would continuously want to read about our daily or weekly endeavors? I am not judging but you have to be awfully conceded to continue doing a blog.

Peer Reviews

I believe that peer reviews are and should be a big part of a writing classrooms process. It helps the student by letting them hear out what other students that are doing the same thing say. For example if I were having problems with citation I would rather hear a person that has been through the same problem already. I know that it has helped me out allot in past situations. I have had a few “Ah Ha” moments during the writing process, from the research part of it up through the outline process, it will always be that way as long as we study we will always keep having moments like this. And there is nothing that I have found shocking or intriguing in the process or my research yet but there is always time for that.

Last Six Weeks

Hello fellow bloggers once again it is me Luis, with my weekly class blog. How is everyone doing out there? This week I would like for you to come with me on a short little trip, and see how I have personally been dealing with the last six weeks. First week one started off horrible, I did not receive my books for class until almost week three which made it almost impossible to stay on track with all the reading. Since then I have received them of course, also my writing skills while they were already at the most ideal point that I could get them. They have improved significantly, I thought that I knew everything about writing at this point but of course I was wrong. A smart man once said “You can never have enough information, if it's relevant” (Galileo). As for the rest of the weeks they have gone by very smooth with almost know mishaps, I just hope that the next six weeks go by the same. I only hope that one day the ideas about my topic could be influential in later research, as well as spread awareness about it and its effect on society especially those with the debilitating condition.

Academic Challenges

If there is one thing about my academic challenges, it would be my writing, for help with my writing I have used the Kaplan library Writing Center and I have found it to be excellent. But writing has never been and never will be one of my strengths, all of the prewriting, outlining, thesis’s etc are just to BLAH. I have been used to more of a journal type of writing and now I have to use a more formal structure It is the tension of trying to demonstrate that I understand what I had been reading and learning, and feeling so bound in by rules that I am not use to. The library really helped me get back on track with my writing and it was a nice confidence boost especially after I had received some negative comments on some writing assignments I had completed in the past. I hope to someday be able to tackle a writing assignment like the one from this semester and totally blow it out the water so to speak.

Thoughts on citing my work

Based upon my reading on plagiarism I think we need to cite our sources because doing research for a paper is an exploration and learning process. By acknowledging our sources we show our reader the path we took to come to our conclusions. Citing the authors we read shows how we tied others’ research and ideas together and how we came to learn about and develop our own ideas and opinions. Citations reflect the careful and thorough work you have put into locating and exploring your sources, they help readers understand the context of your argument and are a courtesy to the reader, who may share your interest in a particular area of study. Citations also allow you to acknowledge those authors who contributed to your learning and your work. By illustrating your own learning process, also draw attention to the originality and legitimacy of your own ideas. By citing sources you demonstrate your integrity and skill as a responsible student and participant in your field of study.
